When M came to me in tears about his Nintendo charger being broken, even though my first instinct was to scold him for crying over a silly thing like a baby, but I know on the one hand it's important to validate their feelings - it's understandable that it's important to him , to his 11 yr old self it's a significant loss, but on the other hand it's also important to make them value the truly important things in life - not material stuff and monetary losses. It was a teachable moment...

I know the audio is a bit bold but honestly I don't mean to be rude or condescending 🙈🤪. It's just that MULTIPLE times I've found myself counseling women with professional degrees or some other skill, who are currently waiting on licensing/registration or can't get a "job" due to personal reasons/circumstances etc. The point is to open your eyes to Other doors around you, take up a new hobby, learn a new skill, read a book. Being Fixated on that One goal/aim you had in your twenties might be holding you back from many other exciting opportunities.
P.S. never shy away from unpaid/honorary work, there's always something to gain !

Just a couple of little boys enjoying learning the art of embroidery. Last time we visited home they saw some of my embroidered wall hangings I made in my teens and were very interested to know how we can make such beautiful patterns and designs with a needle and thread, So I gave them something simple to start with and now their first embroidery designs are proudly displayed in their bedroom! There is no such thing as girl hobbies or boy hobbies, if anything- God knows Boys actually need some hobbies that require patience, and make them sit down and concentrate! I used to love embroidery when I had the time, what about you?

Internet Safety Day. Teaching our young ones about internet Safety has never been as important as it is right now, when our children are relying more and more on technology not just for leisure and games but for school work, projects and assignments as well.
It is imperative to lay some ground rules, here are some of the rules I have in my household (these apply from toddlers to tweens);
⭐ Do not download anything without asking mama or baba
⭐ Do not click on any links that you don't know what they are, show mama first
⭐ Do not click on random adds that may show up on your device
⭐ Do not share personal information, even with friends (define personal information to kids)
⭐Do not open an email if you don't know the sender
⭐ Under the age of 15, you do not need any kind of social media account
⭐ If something shows up on your device while you're working, don't panic or experiment by clicking aimlessly, ask an adult for help
⭐ Treat strangers on the internet just like you'd treat a stranger on the street
⭐ No public online gaming/chatting
⭐ No unsupervised screen time, no devices in the bedroom (This is super important , there has been an exponential increase in childhood exposure to p**n)

I know this sounds like a lot of rules but you can never be too safe in this era of cyber crimes!

There comes a stage in life when you've seen so much and experienced so much that your priorities and expectations begin to shift, you begin to appreciate some things that might apparently be nuisances...Jokes aside, yes even though a lot of our time is spent in the car to and from school drops and pickups, often killing time between different kids' after-school activities, but I love it. I strive to bust this misconception and myth in society that Hijab is a sign of oppression, rather it's a sign of confidence and power.Women worldwide celebrate World Hijab Day (WHD) on February 1 to raise awareness of Muslim women's discrimination and re-assert the head covering as a fundamental right. More often than not I have been "randomly" stopped at airports for a quick search, most times the airport officials openly saying that because you are wearing THIS and you don't want to take it off, we will have to do a search ma'am. Which I am fine with because they are just doing their job, what I am NOT fine with is a random stranger assuming I am oppressed !! I am a Doctor, a Human Factors expert, a published author, a pampered daughter and loved wife Alhamdulillah - take that Oppression!!

One of the toughest challenges of parenting today I believe is teaching kids "Rizq kee Qadar" , (value every little thing, not taking stuff for granted). Would you agree ? Winter Solstice today, this year only 7 hours of sunlight (barely any sun here in Eire though), which means it was the darkest day of the year. Tbh it feels like very Dark times, with everything going on the year is certainly ending on a dark depressing note. Before the dawn of New Year may we see a permanent ceasefire for the P@!estinians, with a right to return to their homeland, may we see a free Kashmir, may we see the end of child labour for Cobalt mining, may we see the end of Fast Fashion and Uyghur exploitation.... May we see humanity and morality rise again ... Darkest day means one thing- it can only get brighter from here ! Ending the year with hope and prayers
